If yesterday was happy update day, as the iPhone Dev Team proclaimed, then today must be happy updated update day as PwnageTool 2.0.3.1 not only appears but also appears to work...

The iPhone Dev Team briefly released the latest version of its jailbreak tool yesterday, then took it away again. Now it's back and working properly.

PwnageTool 2.0.3 should have been a proud moment for the iPhone Dev Team, what with it providing the much awaited jailbreak capability for iPhone 2.0.2 users. Should have, could have, but didn't.

Actually, that is not quite true. It did what it said on the box as far as the iPhone is concerned but iTouch users found things heading towards the shape of a pear. "We’ve had some issues with iPod touch devices and the latest version of PwnageTool for the Mac" the iPhone Dev Team said.

Those issues being that under certain conditions incorrect permissions were being used, oh and the small matter of the keychain not saving passwords didn't help either.

The iPhone Dev Team were damn quick to get on the case though, living up to their promise to push out the updated version via Sparkle as soon as it was tested.

Talking of testing, the team also reported some problems with the Windows Beta of QuickPwn, and have provided an update to fix issues that have been annoying 64-bit Windows users.

So what do you get with PwnageTool 2.0.3.1 now that it is out and working? As well as the firmware 2.0.2 5C1 support, there is an updated Installer.app beta as well as a new .de localization for German users.

As far as Windows QuickPwn 150 Beta, that gets a revised GUI from Poorlad with much tighter integration into the updated QuickPwn executable. It fixes problems with YouTube and provides BootNeuter support for 2G iPhone unlocking.

The iPhone Dev Team do not recommend users play with virtualisation though as there are still problems with how it handles USB resets.
