Yes, Murderdrome is gory - but then you can buy episodes of Dexter from the iTunes Store.

Such a classification system would also obviously be useful for parents with iPhone and iPod touch owning children.

iTunes already has parental controls, allowing people to restrict access to movies, TV shows and games, so this could easily be extended to cover content in the App Store.

Still, this is a great problem for Apple to have. It clearly shows just how far software development for Apple's iDevices has already come.

I certainly can't remember ever hearing calls the classification of content for Windows Mobile or Symbian devices – can you?
