The actual processing will be carried out by Simsmetal.Earlier this month, Greenpeace claimed e-waste is still being illegally exported from Europe and the US to countries such as Ghana. As a result, shanty towns have sprung up around many these potentially toxic high-tech waste heaps sometimes containing quantitities of hazardous heavy metals such as lead and mercury.
