OMG – Telstra raises BigPond and Business wireless broadband download caps! E-mail

Although Telstra has offered business users 10GB, 20GB, 30GB, 40GB and 50GB plans for wireless broadband for some time (with 50GB costing around $1500 per month), at least the new 10GB plan is accessible to many more consumers – the previous 10GB monthly price was in the vicinity of $350+ on a monthly basis.

Now, how soon with Vodafone, Optus and 3 Mobile respond? The consumer 10GB barrier has been broken at last – Telstra’s competitors MUST match it – and better it on pricing!

I’d expect we should see better than 10GB plans emerge, too. A competitor might come out with an 11 or 12GB plan just to “one up” Telstra.

After all, if 7GB sells for $49, what about 14GB for $98?

Likewise, if 6GB is $39, shouldn’t 12GB be $78?

Once again, I predict we’ll see these kinds of plans sooner rather than later, as competitors work to swing the amount of gigabytes on offer back in their favour, at least in the consciousness of consumers.

We’re finally seeing some rapid evolution in wireless broadband. Building up for years, the 10GB consumer plan in my mind is the tipping point!
