Austar and Unwired have finalised their spectrum swap agreement announced on 7 July.

Unwired now holds licences in the 2.3GHz and 3.5GHz bands in the majority of metropolitan Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle and Geelong. Austar holds licences in the same bands in its subscription televisions markets in regional Australia.

Unwired has paid to Austar the $15 million due under the agreement and the two companies have agreed to ensure any new network rollouts will be compatible with the IEEE' 802.16e 'mobile' WiMAX standard, due to finalised, according to some reports, within days.
