See what a regionally focused software push can do?  The Xbox 360 has sold out in Japan in recent weeks, on the back of a popular JRPG, outselling rival console the PlayStation 3.

With the release of Namco Bandai’s Tales of Vesperia, an Xbox 360 exclusive JRPG (Japanese [style] Role Play Game), sales of the beleaguered Xbox 360 have jumped sharply in Japan.

According to the Kotaku report , the country has emptied its retail supply of the Microsoft console, with refresh models not due in country until September.

For the week ending August 10, Xbox 360 sales were looking the best they have for many months.

1. NDS Lite - 60,434 [1,859,576]
2. PSP - 58,501 [2,432,623]
3. Wii - 38,506 [1,872,601]
4. Xbox 360 - 24,962 [115,793]
5. PlayStation 3 - 9,673 [584,898]
6. PlayStation 2 - 8,503 [310,297]

Given that supply is exhausted – expect the following weeks sales to plummet, oh!  About 24,962 units.
