Subscription music coming to iTunes? Maybe! E-mail

My suspicion is that the music companies see subscriptions as one of the few remaining options in the face of file sharing. And the iTunes Store is the biggest music retailer in the US, so it makes sense for the labels to exploit that position.

If that is the case, I hope Apple has taken advantage of the negotiations to get the remaining majors to yield on the question of selling unprotected tracks through the iTunes Store. They all offer them through other big download services such as Amazon (and even BigPond in Australia), so why not through iTunes?

MDN's tipster also hints at changes to the iPhone and iPod touch to provide access to content stored on an iDisk, as well as photo syncing through MobileMe.
