Sony takes page out of Xbox 360 book in PS3 hardware change E-mail

In addition to allowing easy text chat, the surface of the keypad doubles as a touch pad when using the PS3's web browser.

The keypad attaches to the controller and communicates with the PS3 via Bluetooth.

The Wireless Keypad is set for release in North America in late November, and in Japan, Europe and Asia by the end of 2008. The price has yet to be announced.

In other news, Sony also announced that the PSP-3000 will go on sale in Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand on 15th October 2008. The €199 price (which converts to $A336) will include one software title from a list including Buzz! Master Quiz, FIFA 09 and Harry Potter.

Hardware features include an improved LCD screen. Wi-Fi, USB 2, analogue video out, microphone, and a Memory Stick Duo slot.

The PSP-3000 will be available in black, white or silver.
