Qantas taps into iPhone popularity with tailored website E-mail

With the proliferation of handheld computers capable of web browsing led by the iPhone and other smartphones, companies are being forced to think about reaching wider audiences with websites tailored for smaller devices. For example, on the day the iPhone went on sale in Australia, the ANZ Bank launched a iPhone-specific but limited-functionality version of its site.

If you don't have an iPhone but are curious to explore the new Qantas site, you can do so with the desktop version of Safari. In the Preferences window, select the Advanced tab and check the box "Show Develop menu in menu bar". Then use the Develop menu to set the User Agent to Mobile Safari, and go to qantas.com/mobile.

Remember to return the User Agent setting to Default when you've finished.
