Symantec swallows promising Australian security middleweight E-mail

Previous acquisitions made by Symantec include Veritas (enterprise storage software), ON Technology (software distribution and configuration management), PowerQuest (storage management), Vontu (data loss prevention), Altiris (device management), Sygate (endpoint compliance), Brightmail (anti-spam), SafeWeb (SSL VPN), Quarterdeck (PC utilities), Ghost (from New Zealand based Binary Research), and Peter Norton Computing.

The terms of the PC Tools acquisition - which is expected to be completed by the end of the year subject to customary conditions and approvals - were not disclosed.
