Vodafone has released a new USB-connected 7.2Mbps wireless broadband modem, its first to operate at the 900MHz frequency Vodafone is using for the expansion of its network to cover 98 percent of the population. It comes with connectivity software for Mac and Windows embedded, and Windows users also get to send and receive SMS.

Vodafone is positioning its mobile broadband service as a direct competitor to ADSL. Helen Tuffy, head of consumer data at Vodafone Australia, said: "the Vodafone Internet Stick is a great alternative to fixed line ADSL...giving Australians the freedom to ditch their landline and stay connected at home and on the move," Vodafone has discontinued its existing USB connected modem. |
