The space portion of the seed experiment will end at the end of November when the NASA STS-126 crew of the space shuttle Endeavour returns the seeds to Earth.

When the seeds return they will be planted in Earth soil in order to see how their six-month space journey affects their growth, along with other characteristics.

An interview with Chamitoff before his flight to the International Space Station is found on the NASA website, “Preflight Interview: Gregory Chamitoff.”
