Page 1 of 2 Voice formatting with commands such as "Bold James Brown" and "make that bigger" are said to make it quicker than ever to format text. NaturallySpeaking is designed to work with popular applications including Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Firefox and various instant messaging clients such as AIM. A web-based test of 35,000 people carried out by Nuance found an average typing speed of 35 words per minute and 58 percent accuracy. The company claims NaturallySpeaking can deliver up to 160 words per minute with 99 percent accuracy and no misspellings. (It's not clear whether the company regards the mistaken use of a homonym as a spelling mistake.) "Speech technology has reached a critical turning point where it is now fundamentally changing the way that we interact with the world around us," said Bob Anderson, APAC director of Nuance's mobile and consumer division. And there's a bonus with some editions of NaturallySpeaking 10, so please turn to page 2. |
