Page 2 of 2 Samsung says that the 3D capability of the plasmas isn’t the only “first”, as the 450 Plasma range is “also the first and only plasma television on the Australian market with Real 100Hz.” “3-D TV used to be a dream – something you’d see in futuristic film or at a theme park. The availability of 3-D content in games or movie format is growing quickly so we’re excited to plug the gap with Australia’s first 3-D Plasma TV. I was very pleasantly surprised when I first saw this 3-D big screen experience,” said Erin Anderson, Product Manager CTV at Samsung Australia. Nic Beames, Director of Content, DDD said “3D is here to stay, with Hollywood studios producing hugely successful 3-D movies for cinema audiences. Right now, many of the most popular PC games can be experienced in 3-D, on Samsung’s 450 series Plasma TVs using DDD’s TriDef® 3-D Experience software and available 3-D glasses. We’re excited to play a key role in Samsung’s commitment to 3-D in the home.” Other features include a “1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio and Filterbright technology to ensure the clearest picture in a wide range of lighting situations.” Samsung also touts its “DNIe+ (Digital Natural Image Engine Plus) [which provides] optimal picture quality and the ultimate in natural looking image reproduction.” The 42-inch model retails for AUD $1899, and the 50-inch model retails for $2529. The recommended PC specifications for playing 3D games, playing 3D movies or running the DDD software to convert 2D movies into 3D is as follows: • Intel® Core 2 Duo or Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core CPU • 1GB RAM • NVIDIA® GeForce 6600 or ATI Radeon™ X800 or better, with a DVI or HDMI output • 100MB free disk space • Windows® XP, Vista (32Bit) • DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card • Internet connection • Network card • DVD-ROM drive and a compatible DVD decoder (such as WinDVD)
