by Stephen Withers

IBM officials say the company is also winning business in competition with Microsoft in more mature markets around the world. Examples include a 150,000-seat sale to one of the big six accounting and consulting firms in North America, as well as the Australian government and banks in the US, UK and Germany.

Other wins have occurred in the government, manufacturing, finance, transport, and education sectors.

Even religious organisations are getting in on the act, with the Salvation Army and the Kentucky Baptist Convention appearing on Lotus's recent customer list. The Anglican Church of Australia has stated that its adoption of Symphony will save an estimated $A150,000 per year.
