Improvements to Fusion's DirectX support allows the "experimental" use of "bigger and badder" games such as Gears of War and Portal. Fusion 2.0 beta 2 also supports faster and smoother playback of 720p and 1080p high-definition video content, allowing the use of services such as Netflix Streaming and Amazon Unbox.

The beta also allows Mac OS X Server to run as a guest operating system (Apple's licence does not permit the use of the normal version of Mac OS X under virtualisation), provides explicit support for Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, and extends the Unity feature to allow Linux applications to run on the Mac desktop.

The beta is a free download for all comers, and when Fusion 2.0 is released it will be a free upgrade for version 1.x licensees.
