ERP provider Lawson Software has appointed Axel van der Smagt as its partner engagement director.

"Axel's impressive background and experience in the enterprise software industry will be of significant value to Lawson as we focus on growing our presence and our partnership engagements in the ANZ region," said Stephen Moore, managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

"Having seen what works for customers from both the vendor and services provider sides, Axel is in an extremely advantageous position to foster partnerships for Lawson that are designed to make our customers stronger."

Van der Smagt most recently worked as managing principal mid-size enterprise at SAP. He previously held positions with JD Edwards/PeopleSoft/Oracle, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers/IBM, and Baan specialist The Implementors.

He holds a Business Information Technology degree from Fontys Hogescholen in The Netherlands, and is working on his MBA dissertation with Henley/Brunel University.
