Online CVs to be adopted by leading recruiters in $2.1 million deal

An online CV system invented in the UK is supposedly to become the standard way for Australian technology workers to apply for jobs, after several of the country’s largest IT recruitment companies signed deals worth a total of £1million (AUD$2.1 million). The deal will see the recruiters adopt a system called ‘iProfile’ (www.iprofile.org) as their preferred CV template. Candidates applying for jobs with a number of leading Australian recruiters, including Abraxas, Ambition, Finite, and Paxus, will be encouraged to replace their traditional CV with a free iProfile - a place on the web where candidates can record their details and dynamically connect with recruiters. The iProfile is used by 2.5million people in the UK, according to iProfile the organisation. The system enables recruiters, who collectively place tens of thousands of people every year, to use complementary search and match software called iPlace, which is claimed to enable their recruitment consultants to become more efficient - freeing them up to spend more time with applicants and employers, with the aim to make more placements, more quickly. Rick Bacon, Chief Executive, iProfile, said: “This is a hugely significant deal and shows how a UK innovation is fast becoming a global standard. The opportunity for the recruitment industry and job seekers to adopt the iProfile to save time, become more efficient and make more money is massive. We see this as a huge endorsement of the iProfile in Asia Pacific and a major step along the road that will bring the traditional CV into the 21st Century and establish iProfile as a global standard.” Norman Lacy, Executive Director of Australian and New Zealand IT contract and recruitment industry body, ITCRA, which helped broker the deal, said: “Our role is to help develop products that generate efficiencies for our members’ companies and iProfile fits with this perfectly. Recruiters stand to benefit from a market leading service that has been proven in the UK and this is why we are facilitating its introduction into the Asia Pacific region.” To support the growth, iProfile has appointed a Managing Director of  Asia Pacific, Glen Perry, and will establish an office in Sydney. Support for job seekers and recruiters will be provided from Sydney with backup from the company’s London’s headquarters.
