As part of larger interview, Fils-Aime said in response to a question on the topic that “We have said publicly that we’re looking hard at the storage situation, that we’re working on a range of solutions. We have nothing to announce now. But certainly it’s an issue we are aware of and we’re working to find a solution and we will.”

So, we can only hope Nintendo find a solution they’re happy with and release it to the market sooner rather than later – even if the fact it will get hacked anyway is essentially inevitable.

There are user concerns out there that Nintendo will come out with something that will be expensive, which would be wrong given how cheap SD cards and additional memory is today.

But given the fact that storage space is at a premium for Wii owners, and no longer the final frontier, even a somewhat expensive solution will likely be embraced by users, even if begrudgingly.
