It’s also seems to be a blow to True Local and other “business directory” sites which are fighting against the might of not only the Yellow brand name but entire organisation which is not only huge but has been around for decades.

It’s definitely an interesting move from Sensis who could be said to be taking advantage of the old saying: “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” when it comes to fighting against the power of the search engine.

If it means more business comes to those small businesses who are otherwise missing out when people do a search for their products and services in search engines like Google, businesses that are already paying to be in Yellow every year, then so much the better for them – they’ll get more value for money.

Below are examples of key word searches in Google that deliver Yellow listings, as provided in the Sensis press release on this topic:

State       Key word search
NSW        magnetic therapy Botany
VIC         landscape contractor Doncaster
QLD         masonic lodge Caboolture
SA           newsagents in South Australia
WA          pharmacies in Balcatta
TAS         Devonport orthodontists
NT           graphic designers in Parap
