Icahn gets on board at Yahoo! - so what's next? E-mail

Icahn previously threw his weight behind proposals to sell the search business to Microsoft, but his statement suggests willingness to work towards a reinvigorated company. Still, it's hard to see how his presence on the board would make an eventual full or partial acquisition by Microsoft less likely.

But if Microsoft does swallow AOL to boost its online business, even it may not have the stomach for Google as well.

Following the announcement, Yahoo! shares closed at $21.67, down $US0.78 from the previous close. They slipped even lower in after hours trading.
