Whether Zibri and ZiPhone will now be updated to support the PwnageTool functions is yet to be seen, although WinPwn will likely be updated first.

Those who want to unlock the iPhone 3G will have to rely upon “TurboSIM” cards, which use an overlay of a tiny circuit board to go between your existing SIM card and the iPhone 3G SIM card tray, and require you to “cut” part of your existing SIM card out (although reportedly leaving it fully usable without the TurboSIM in use).

Other alternatives to the Turbo SIM include paying your carrier to officially unlock the iPhone, something that is possible for an outright purchased iPhone 3G in Australia through Telstra and Optus (but not yet Vodafone as far as I am aware), although iPhone 3Gs on a contract are not yet officially unlockable.

The third alternative is to wait for a software unlock for the iPhone 3G, and now the waiting game for that to happen starts up all over again!

In the meantime, iPhone 2G owners can happily unlock and jailbreak the iPhone OS 2.0 software all they want. So, good luck, and may the Pwnage be with you!
