The Electronic Arts presentation has just completed at the E3.  Amongst the upcoming line-up of games including Spore, Dragons Age and Mirrors Edge, EA announced a new partnership with Doom and Quake creator’s id Software.

It is the 20th anniversary of the Madden series of American Football games, one of EA’s most popular franchises, and since there exclusive deal with the NFL, and subsequent monopoly on authenticity about the only way to experience the biggest American football league in a video game.

Peter Moore spoke today at the Electronic Arts pre E3 press conference, showing off some EA sports stuff including NBA Live 09 using a new feature titled “dynamic DNA” and the All-Play mode of Tiger Woods Golf against LPG golfer Natalie Gulbis.  Moore wins with the aid of All-Play.

Will Wright is also at the EA conference, talking up the upcoming Spore and the astronomical success of the Spore Creature Creator software that has so far spawned over two million unique user created creatures – more species than on the Earth now.

EA also showed off a new Sims break away title SimAnimals (aiming for Jan 2009 release on Nintendo DS and Wii ) as well as a 2009 release target for Sims 3

Then there were new franchises: Dead Space and its appropriate Halloween release date, and in a similar vein Valve’s Gabe Newell was on stage to talk more about the zombie shooter Left 4 Dead, also targeting an October release.

RPG kings BioWare gave glimpses of Dragon Age:Origins destined for PC in November and the excellent looking Mirrors Edge action adventure was also trotted out.

EA and id Software (with John Carmack on stage) also announced a publishing collaboration for the upcoming Rage .  A new franchise from the makers of Quake and Doom; an excerpt (albeit somewhat buggy) showing vehicle physics and battle in the Mad Max’esque world of Rage was showcased.

Rage is scheduled for release during QuakeCon 2008 at the end of July.
