Page 2 of 3 While most of the comments at that article suggested they didn’t believe Sensis, some respondents claimed that they regularly used Sensis in their line of work and could definitely see a difference. Clearly it’s something you’ll have to see for yourself to find out whether you agree or disagree with Sensis’ claims. Featured Whitepaper
5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
So, how precisely is Telstra proposing to make mobile search better? Telstra says it is improving the “BigPond Search Tab” on its Next G mobile phones and is doing this by providing search bars to its Sensis search engines for the web, Yellow (pages), Whereis, Bigpond Music and Citysearch from the one search page. BigPond Group Managing Director, Justin Milne, said that: “Telstra Next G customers will now have, in the palm of their hand, some of the most popular and powerful mobile phone search engines available.” “Most of the content will be free-to-browse or unmetered, meaning that consumers needn’t worry about incurring extra charges for using many of the services”, continued Milne. Specific examples of what the new “search tab” is meant to allow users to accomplish is as follows: - Find their favourite song or mobile phone ringtone - Locate an online game and download it to their phone - Search for a local restaurant or coffee shop - Download a map showing the route to their destination - Read movie reviews and then find a local cinema showing the picture - Search for their favourite mobile web sites - Search Wikipedia Now if you’re thinking this is nothing new and was already available, or at least partly available on your Next G handset, you’d be right. What Telstra have done is to unify it all under the “BigPond Search Tab” in the walled garden of Telstra/BigPond content on Next G phones, “putting it all just one click away”. BigPond MD Justin Milne added that: “Mobile search now matches the convenience of online search, and the combination of these BigPond and Sensis search engines will deliver highly relevant and useful information. “The integration of BigPond and Sensis content on Australia’s most advanced 3G network is another example of Telstra’s evolution from a traditional telco into a true media-comms company,” continued Milne. So... does Telstra have any chance against Google? Continued on page 3. |
