The Tasmanian government has standardized on VMware Infrastructure 3 to consolidate its server farms throughout the state.
According to VMware, the Tasmanian government - including state departments, local councils and government business enterprises - plans to consolidate the majority of its servers using VMware virtualisation to minimise its data centres' carbon footprint and reduce hardware operating costs and to improve its business continuity and disaster recovery processes.
VMware partner, Optus subsidiary Alphawest, will provide services and support to the Government for the project.
