Page 1 of 2 At the top of the list is Remote, which turns the iPhone into a Wi-Fi connected remote control for iTunes or Apple TV, including album art display and control over AirTunes speakers. The number two spot is taken by AIM in the US and Facebook in Australia. AIM is what you'd expect - an instant messaging client, complete with presence information and buddy list management that's automatically synced with iChat. Photos taken with the iPhone can be used as your buddy icon Facebook for iPhone features include showing your friends' status update and latest photos, uploading your own photos, and Facebook Chat. Number three in Australia is Light, developed by iPhone identity Erica Sadun. Modelled on a standard feature of other mobile phones, Light simply displays a white screen, allowing the iPhone to be used as a torch (flashlight). Maybe Light's popularity is because it's winter in the southern hemisphere. In the US, third place is taken by Facebook. That's the top freebies - so what are people paying for? Find out on page 2. |
