No iPhone 3G on PAYG until Christmas E-mail

Having done a double take and read it again, I can confirm that it does indeed say that if you want an iPhone 3G PAYG then you are in for a long wait.

According to a statement from O2 that has been given to UK-based gadget review website Pocket Lint the network has indeed confirmed that prepay units will be available "in time for the Christmas shopping season." The statement adds "Due to the high levels of demand we felt it prudent to phase the launch of the iPhone 3G to best manage stock levels."

Unsurprisingly, potential buyers were none too pleased on hearing this information. Indeed, many are complaining quite loudly on the O2 customer forums. Lots of people have registered an interest in the PAYG iPhone 3G on the basis that it would be available at launch, although O2 has never actually said this. Promotional material has always stated "available on Pay & Go later this year" which turns out to be very accurate indeed.

One angry users says "They must have known some time ago that the PAYG users would have to wait, now it appears till Christmas. Why hold out false hope to those users?"
