The first DreamWorks 3D movie will be Monsters vs Aliens, scheduled for release in March 2009. In related news, HP is bragging that its DreamColor LP2480zx Professional LCD Display (just released in Australia at $A4288.90) was used by DreamWorks in the production of Kung Fu Panda. That's a pricey display, but according to HP officials it is "less than a quarter of the cost of comparable studio-quality displays", and delivers one billion colours, with blacks that are four times darker than conventional LCDs. "The HP DreamColor display addresses the need for affordable and consistent colour accuracy in the animation, game development, film/video post, broadcast, product design and graphic arts categories," said Ajay Sahi, market development manager, workstations and monitors, HP Australia. "Our collaboration with DreamWorks Animation has enabled us to bring very sophisticated display and colour management technology to a much wider audience of creative professionals. This level of quality has previously only been available in much more expensive machines," added Sahi.
