Still, given just how cool the original iPhone still is, soon to be enhanced by the new iPhone 2.0 firmware and the App Store, the new model with much faster 3G and GPS built-in looks set to be a sure winner for Apple yet again.

The O2 and Optus site crashes are likely to be indicative of the interest stores will see on July 11 and possibility throught iPhone launch week. A line has already started forming outside of Apple's 5th Avenue store in New York, after all.

Clearly there will be some people who'll want to buy an iPhone 3G on July 11 who might just have to wait until July 12 to become owners.

And the news will clearly be followed by the first iPhone 3G unlock and jailbreak.

A month or two after we're likely to see stories of people whose plans did not allow unlimited downloads in some countries who could face massive data bills, while people who roam overseas might yet again trigger stories of bills that come in at thousands of dollars.

Ah, the fun and games of the iPhone and iPhone ownership.

Even though I've owned an iPhone 2G since August 2007, I can’t wait to get my hands on the new iPhone 3G, that’s for sure!

What about you? Planning on getting an iPhone or are you happy with your existing device?
