Having these three major players stay strong is great for the industry and gamers, too. More competition, more ideas, more innovation... who’d want a world where only one company was the winner? It’d be a bit like Blu-ray after the death of HD DVD... prices have gone up, not down, there’s no more competitive pressure. Well there is some pressure from upscaling DVD and some from downloads, but Blu-ray is just coasting along. It was a lot more fun when HD DVD was still around! So... we’ve all been hyped up to expect greatness at the 2008 E3. Woe betide the company that doesn’t deliver on their promises, for they’ll earn little but the scorn of gamers who expected better. But I don’t believe we’ll be in for any bad shocks. Instead I expect all three companies will do their best to shock and awe us instead. In seven days we’ll all know! |
