Firefox 3 reaches new record but will IE 8 smash it? E-mail

As I started posting this article into our Joomla back-end, one of the things I do is to put the intro paragraph into its own editing box, while the bulk of the article goes into a second editing box beneath the first one.

I then highlight that text, click on the 'styles' drop down box, and in IE7 and Firefox 2 or 3, there's a menu item called 'intro'.

For some odd reason, it is not there in Opera. I'm going to contact by my Site Director and people I know at Opera to ask why, because I certainly wasn't expecting that to happen when I was writing this article.

I did a quick search for Opera 9.5 browser Joomla on Google and it seems some other people have noted they were unable to edit articles using Opera with Joomla, so it seems to be a known quantity to Opera, I'll be keen to hear what they say.

Nevertheless, I can easily use Firefox 3 or IE7 to post articles, but do the majority of my browsing in Opera instead. It's no big deal to open Firefox 3 to post when I need to, after all.

I often have Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7 open together anyway, and over the past couple of days have had the three browsers open together while doing most of my surfing and research within Opera as part of my test.

So for now, despite this hiccup in using Opera, I’m tired of Firefox's tendency to slow down. It’s not as foxy as it once was... I’m hoping that a night, a day and an entire week at the Opera will instead be a smoother, faster and more enjoyable experience.

If so, I’ll be a regular visitor to the Opera. Sure, IE7 and Firefox will still be there on my PC if needed. I even have Safari loaded.

But if Opera can cope with the workload I put browsers through, I’ll be most impressed, although this issue with Joomla is a bit annoying. Hopefully Opera have an answer, it's the only thing I've noticed so far.

See you in a week!
