Internet snoops wanted. Apply US Army.

Page 1 of 2 ! Do you have what it takes to snoop around web pages, chat rooms, blogs and other Internet areas? Great, the United States Army has just the job for you... In what has to be one of the most bizarre situations vacant postings to ever appear online, the US Army has been advertising for a cyber-spy. No, seriously. The US Army wants Internet snoops to help in the ongoing war on terror. The posting, which appears on the official Federal Business Opportunities website, is quite clear as to what is required here: "The purpose of the services will be to identify and assess stated and implied threat, antipathy, unrest, and other contextual data relating to selected internet domains. The contractor will prioritize foreign language domains that relate to specific areas of concern." In the official statement of work the US Army goes on to say that it is looking for a contractor to conduct "internet awareness services" in support of the Governments activities to include "Indications and Warning, Force Protection, and situational awareness." Sounds like a cyber-spy to me. More so when you get to the bit about a foreign speaking analyst with cyber investigative skills, and the need to "analyze various web pages, chat rooms, blogs and other internet domains to aggregate and assess data of interest to the Government." It's not all Internet snooping fun though, you will have to prepare a weekly report and in the event of any imminent threat be on immediate 24 hour call. It isn't a one snoop job either, the US Army wants a whole team of them. So what skills are the US Army looking for in this team, and can you apply? Read on to find out...
