Page 1 of 3 An article at GadgetGuy says an anonymous Optus source has given them some details of what Optus plans to charge for the iPhone and how much data they plan to give away. To start with, the article’s Optus source says there will be a “pre paid cap plan” giving you $800 worth of calls, $100 worth of Optus “My Time” calls and a 1GB data cap. The article says this is a “hefty” amount, but to me it seems like the bare minimum, and although data caps in other countries such as France and Hong Kong start at 500MB, which is even worse! But at least Hong Kong has an AUD $65 per month plan with unlimited data that looks a lot cheaper than the Optus plan we know of so far, and the unlimited iPhone data plan has been in place since day 1 in the US. The GadgetGuy article then says “It's good to see that Optus is being reasonable here” in regards to the 1GB of data download. On the contrary, it’s not reasonable at all compared with unlimited plans available overseas, so really, I hope Optus does a lot, lot better when it’s plans become official and aren’t coming from “anonymous” sources who appear to be raising flags to see what the public and the media think.
