3 Mobile slices prices, then Telstra launches $0 iPhone attack!

The inside of the ClearBoost case features a metal antenna that sits atop the iPhone 2G’s black plastic covered antenna on the back of the phone, which can be seen at iLounge’s review. The review says it worked in 850MHz areas to boost the signal, but in places where there was a very weak signal it didn’t seem to do much at all. Another review, this time at the Washington Post, also gave a thumbs up to the ClearBoost case, with the reviewer saying he got a better signal and coverage when driving in areas where the iPhone itself, without the case, had a much harder time of things. But will Griffin make a ClearBoost case for the iPhone 3G soon? So far it’s new iPhone 3G accessories don’t include a ClearBoost case as yet, and we also don’t know if Telstra itself has any similar technologies ready to go to boost the iPhone 3G’s signal. Now we know that 3 Mobile in Australia doesn’t have the iPhone and might not have it for some time, which has forced 3 Mobile to drop its prices, include free content and make certain models cheaper in an attempt to tempt customers away from the iPhone in the name of saving money. But the iPhone 3G will, for many people, transcend the cost as long as the voice plans aren’t ridiculously expensive and do indeed include a generous amount of data. But 3 Mobile’s Hong Kong arm most certainly does have the iPhone 3G, and its pricing is seemingly indicative of the value that 3 Mobile could offer in Australia if it wanted to – especially when it is faced with the handicap of no 3G coverage in rural and regional areas at all, falling back instead to Telstra’s GSM coverage and $1.65 per megabyte EDGE speeds. The 3 Mobile Hong King iPhone pricing plans and charges are here and they are most intriguing and at the same time, a little confusing, although the most expensive plan could actually be the world's best value when unlimited data is taken into account. There are three plans which offer 500MB of data, and the last, most expensive plan that comes with ‘unlimited’ data.
