Vodafone turns to MySpace for mobile musical nirvana E-mail

David Wheldon, the Global Brand Director at Vodafone, says that it has "a tremendous heritage in understanding what our customers want in terms of music" and goes on to claim that the Vodafone Music Reporter service reaches music fans in a completely new way.

It reflects trends of experiencing music within the social networking sphere, something that has had a big impact upon the music industry. Would the likes of Lily Allen and the Arctic Monkeys have been as successful without the MySpace connection, for example?

The new service "allows music fans to interact, showcase their skills and become a part of a unique Vodafone music community” Wheldon insists.

It remains to be seen just what the quality of the user generated content is within the Vodafone Music Reporter service, and whether it does indeed produce the truly creative audience that its developers are hoping for.
