Page 2 of 2 iTWire has learned that the company is looking for accessories to improve the iPhone 3G's performance in such areas in the hope that the appropriate combination will earn the Blue Tick. It's not obvious what form those accessories may take, as the iPhone 3G does not make provision for an external antenna.
The iPhone 3G will run on Telstra's 850 MHz towers, which are supposed to give the best coverage of regional and remote areas. However, with Australia's vast areas, it seems the towers are too far apart to provide good reception on just any handset within their footprint.
