Y2K bug causes Mac Office 2008 users to lose data E-mail

Changing the date format preference will undo most of this, except that birth dates in the 1940s have actually been changed by the bug and will need to be re-entered. The same goes for birth years prior to 1908, which have been changed to the corresponding year in the 2000s.

The question remains, however, as to why Microsoft still allows users to enter dates with two-digit years in a program that performs date arithmetic.
