With Civilization: Revolution, Meier (who – after a break returns to the Civilization franchise) and the team at Firaxis hope to bring some of that combination of brains and addictive play to the realm of home gaming consoles. And indeed this has been achieved, dammit! Til now the Xbox 360 and PS3 have been home – predominately – to mindless button mashing action games. Now we have the more thought provoking, sedate approach to Civilization, a ‘turn based’ strategy game to deal with.
