But Telstra hasn't revealed what its iPhone plans will provide in terms of calls and data. While Optus and Vodafone announced they would be carrying the iPhone even before the 3G model was unveiled, Telstra held back, leading some to speculate that the carrier had been blackballed by Apple for disparaging remarks one of its executives made about the iPhone. But with less than two weeks to go before deliveries begin, Telstra has announced that the iPhone will be available on the Next G network. Next G is Australia's largest 3G network, covering 99 percent of the population. If you're prepared to sign up on an $80 per month contract, Telstra will throw in an 8G iPhone 3G for $0 upfront. Desperate for the extra storage capacity of the 16G model? A $100 plan gives you that option. If you're not such a heavy user, then plans from $30 per month let you buy an iPhone for $279 (8G) or $399 (16G) upfront. Each of these offers requires a 24-month contract.
