eBay announces new PayPal delay until ACCC has its say E-mail

eBay’s continual sideshow and obfuscation about “shopping safety” then continues with the statement that: “eBay remains committed to improving safety and we will continue to look for ways to improve the shopping experience for buyers which will subsequently benefit both sellers and eBay.”

Hmm. I think we can scrub buyers and sellers out of that previous paragraph and simply change it to “which will subsequently benefit eBay”. Don’t you?

eBay then advises that it cannot make simple global changes to its website before issuing notices, thus leaving contradictory information all over the place. What’s the matter eBay, don’t you pay your web designers/developers enough money?

eBay demonstrates this ably by saying: “Please note that some of our onsite communications may still refer to changes taking place on 15 July 2008. These communications are in the process of being updated.”

Without any particular flourish, eBay closes by saying: “Regards, The eBay Team”.

Ah, so cold, so corporate, so official. No “Cheers and best regards”, no “we’re listening to you, valued customers without whom we have nothing”.

Just “Regards, The eBay Team”. Well, no-one believes you anymore, eBay. The once great auction site is putting itself on the chopping block, and for what? A few more dollars.

Keep it up, and you may just find that all attempts to revive the credibility and popularity of eBay keep coming in under the reserve price.

The only way to salvage yourselves now is to publicly renounce your foolish actions loudly and proudly, in the hope you can restore yourselves in the eyes of all your customers, both buyers and sellers, as the world’s No.1 auction site. Any bids that’ll happen, anyone?
