Announcing details today, the Technical Director of Happen Business Paul Berger, said the success of Seahawk, which manufacturers Autostream & Slipstream Propellers serves as an example of how Australia manufacturing supported by best-in market business process management software can achieve global market leadership. Seahawk is a second generation family-owned company. It specialises in the manufacture of stainless steel low-drag sailing yacht propellers for the leisure sailing yacht industry. While other propellers are bronze, Seahawk is the only company that manufactures stainless steel folding and feathering yacht propellers. “Today, Seahawk distributes to the USA, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, UK, Thailand and Australia markets. It sells direct to OEM and some smaller dealers. It also provides direct sales to niche sailing locations such as the Galapagos Islands and Barbados”, said owner and company director Ben Hawke. The previous system being used simply did not support with multi-currency transactions, considered vital for a company with significant interest in the export market. The mix of trade and retail selling with multiple discounts across multiple currencies also created a problem with accurate customer invoicing. Seahawk required a system that would provide Hawke and his team with accurate and timely business information to improve decision-making. Seahawk needed a system that could capture and accurately identify costs, and help in identifying areas where profitable turnover could be increased. Following lengthy research on accounting and MRP software solutions including Micronet, Arrow, Pronto, M1, ACCPAC and AMIS, Seahawk selected Happen Business’ Jim2® for its outstanding performance in stock control, accounting management and multi-currency support. “Once we gained an accurate picture of the company, we discovered that operations had been static and in some cases were going backwards over the past few years”, continues Hawke. “With Jim2® we were able to reverse that position and create a strategy that significantly improved our position on a global basis, and profits followed.” “Happen Business worked closely with Seahawk to install and implement Jim2®. We were also able to customise online demonstrations of Seahawk’s products which included live demos of Beta versions of the company’s products”, said Berger. On top of the outstanding features of Jim2® and Happen Business’ professionalism during the migration process, Seahawk also enjoyed the cost-efficiency of the solution. According to Hawke, the system paid for itself the moment it went live.
