There can be no arguing with the statement that US Presidential candidate Barack Obama gets the Internet. He is certainly not the first politician to grasp the importance of the online world. But if you discount Al Gore and his sometimes wayward claims to have helped invent the Internet, you are left with the simple fact that Obama is the first to really use the Internet to make a difference to a presidential campaign. But that is where the similarities of the two Presidential hopefuls cease. Even when you look at those LinkedIn profiles you discover the difference. McCain has a pretty static profile, a resume and nothing more. Obama has embraced the networking aspect of LinkedIn, the interactivity. He has reached out to the audience it provides and at the same time demonstrated that he, or at least his advisors, get how this thing works. Obama has asked a couple of questions on LinkedIn, a feature which enables users to get advice and feedback from those within their networks.
