Page 2 of 3 The other three Victorian stores aren’t as large as the Melbourne CBD store but in essence are the same, with the ‘Genius Bar’ clone area (called [my]place), a smaller number of display tables with products on display to test and trial, and a smaller classroom area than the Melbourne CBD store.CEO Trujillo said that the T[Life] “experience is delivered in an exciting, fully interactive retail environment [allowing] customers to experience the best that Telstra, Australia’s leading media communications company, has to offer in a completely live and connected setting.” Trujillo continued: “The customer is at the centre of everything we do at Telstra and our T [life] stores are a vibrant public expression of that philosophy. Our T [life] stores focus on customers’ business and lifestyle needs and provide integrated solutions for those needs.” Excerpts from Trujillo’s 13 minute speech continued: “We have listened directly to more than 900,000 Australians, to understand what Australians want from Telstra in a retailing environment and so far we have delivered this at T [life] Sydney, and now at T [life] Geelong, T [life] Chadstone, T [life] Doncaster and T [life] Melbourne. “Australians told us that they want a store where the display mobiles work so they can ‘play before they buy’, where one-on-one expert advice accompanies live demonstrations, and where ‘how to' classes are available all day, everyday. At Telstra, we understand that the traditional business hours of 9 to 5 don’t meet everyone’s needs so we have extended trading hours in our Melbourne store, seven days a week. “We are delivering what our customers want – a store that is a one-stop shop, where they can experience new technologies, the richest content, the latest devices, integrated solutions and tailored services, all live and connected, with specially trained staff, and retail hours that are more convenient.” During Trujillo’s speech, towards then end, he noted that: “I was asked the question this morning, “Gee, are you in a war with Apple?” The big store that opened up there in Sydney. “The answer’s no. Apple has a great store, they’ve got a great brand and they do great things. But we're much bigger, we’re much broader and we’re much more connected in terms of touching everybody’s lives here in Australia. “And so we do more in a store like this and we’re trying to create that opportunity for everyone to get that experience. So, I’m excited because this is a key milestone again in the transformation to show how we’ve changed the game here at Telstra centered on one basic notion: and that’s our customers. “But it’s also to help all our customers to see the uniqueness of Telstra, the unique capabilities of Telstra, the unique products of Telstra, the unique focus that we have and how we integrate it all,” said Trujillo. So, the iPhone?! Continued on page 3. |
