HP has launched a set of consulting services designed to help communications companies improve their competitiveness as they adapt to the convergence of telecom, IT and entertainment.

HP Solutions Consulting Services (SCS) is billed as an integrated portfolio of services that translates customers’ strategies and business needs into actionable solutions. "With HP SCS, communications service providers can identify new revenue opportunities, enhance the customer experience, improve operational efficiency and manage the risks of new technology implementation," HP claims.

It says that HP SCS - provided by telecom professionals in its consulting and integration business - will help service providers re-examine their business strategies, services, processes, organisations and systems to expose key interrelationship and then lay the foundation for change. Once business transformation strategies are clearly defined, HP will work with service providers to create the new organisational and operational environment, as well as the right technology solutions.

The HP SCS portfolio focuses on six areas where solutions can drive needed change: product innovation; process improvement ; organisational change; architecture optimisation; transformational governance; financial evaluation

At the core of HP SCS what HP calls Cosmos, which includes intellectual property, methodologies, processes and best practices to manage transformational change across organisations, operations and technology. According to HP, Cosmos "uses object modelling technology and graphic representation of business and technology relationships to achieve a common understanding among the stakeholders across [an] organisation. This model-based knowledge management allows for more insightful analysis to determine where optimisation should occur to improve business operations."

HP has named ETB Colombia, Colombia’s largest provider of voice services and broadband connections, Slovenian Service provider TUS Telekom, T-Mobile Hungary and Wataniya Telecom Algeria as early customers.
