Perth man selling entire life on eBay E-mail

Ian Usher has not coped brilliantly with the ending of his 8 year marriage. In fact, as everything seems to remind him of his failed relationship he has decided to do something about it: sell his entire life on eBay.

Most people collect a lot of things during the course of a marriage, any relationship in fact. Most people might be expected to rid themselves of some items when that marriage comes to an end. Ian Usher is not most people.

Apparently fed up with the way everything about his life reminds him of when he was married, of what could have been, he has put his entire life up for sale by auction on eBay.

And when he says 'entire life' he means it.

You can bid for the complete package which includes his house, car, clothes, possessions, job, hobbies and even his friends. Having launched the auction on Sunday, the bids quickly poured in until they hit a peak of AUD $2.2 million last night.

Unfortunately, as many eBay watchers will have realised, many of those bids were fake. With eBay weeding out the non-genuine bidders and others withdrawing after claiming to have entered the wrong amount, the figure now sits at AUD $300,100 as I write.

The 44 year old divorcee, originally from Yorkshire, England but a resident of Perth for the past six years always knew that some bids would be fake but probably did not count on how many pranksters would come out of the woodwork. With five days left to run, he remains a long way short of the AUD $500,000 he hopes to raise.

If he does manage to hit his target, Usher plans to leave the house with just the clothes on his back, his wallet and a passport. Heading for the airport he will buy a ticket for the next available flight with an empty seat and start a new life wherever it takes him.

So just what, exactly, is Ian Usher selling? Are you sitting comfortably, as this may take a while.
