Telstra's ADSL2 "the best in Australia" - UPDATED

IDC Australia managing director, Graeme Muller, has refuted those  comments, in particular, that Telstra's is the best ADSL service in Australia. His statements follow. UK based Internet performance monitoring specialist Epitiro and IDC have teamed up to undertake detailed testing and analysis of the performance of different ISPs' broadband services, in a project commissioned by the country's trade watchdog, the Commerce Commission. The first of what will be regular quarterly reports has just been released . According to Muller, IDC is working with Epitiro to undertake a similar project in Australia. "Following the successful launch of the Epitiro system in New Zealand, IDC and Epitiro are working as fast as possible to launch the system in Australia," he told iTWire, adding that "At this stage a number of test sites have been set up, however the production system is yet to be rolled out, and until then it is too early to establish who has the best broadband in Australia." A replication of the NZ project with funding from Australia's counterpart of the Commerce Commission, the ACCC, or from the Australian Communications and Media Authority, could see the full results of any such project being freely available However, Muller said that IDC had not had any discussions with either of these bodies or  with any other agency in Australia.
