Other advice from F-Secure includes being vigilant when receiving communications purportedly from the ATO, going directly to the ATO web site (never follow links to it, especially those in emails), install firewall and anti-spyware software (you knew that was coming!), report any suspicious emails or phone calls to the ACCC's Scam Watch, and check bank account and credit card statements promptly.

Over at Tokyo-based Trend Micro, they're going for the hip pocket nerve.
