An overhauled Mail Server promises "dramatically" increased performance plus support for server-side mail handling rules and vacation messages.

Address Book Server will allow the sharing of personal and group contacts via the CardDAV specification, as well as providing remote access to contact information.

The varied collaboration features of Leopard Server will carry though to the 10.6 version, with improvements including wiki and blog templates optimised for iPhone viewing, cross-wiki search capabilities, the use of Quick Look for viewing attachments, and My Page, a customisable home pages giving convenient access to web applications, notifications and so on.

A proxy service will provide secure access from outside the firewall to email, address book, calendars and internally hosted websites.

Naturally, various features from the client version carry over to the server environment. These include support for up to 16T of RAM, the more efficient use of multicore CPUs and the ability to utilise GPUs for number-crunching tasks.
