Apple does have a reputation for charging disproportionately high prices outside of the US, so international subscribers are probably looking closely at local pricing.

If the situation in Australia is anything to go by, the markup is quite modest. $US99 converts to approximately $A104, and adding GST takes the total to just short of $A115.

The actual Australian price of $A119 doesn't represent that big a premium, and is most likely there mainly as a buffer against exchange rate fluctuations - the Aussie is relatively strong against the greenback at present.

Similarly, the $US149 family pack converts to $173 with GST, and the actual price is $A179. So this time it's hard to claim Apple isn't doing the right thing, at least by Australian customers.
