Now something entirely new... which Jobs says he is very excited about. Mobile Me – the rumours of something called Mobile Me were true! Phil from Apple comes on the stage and mentions the “Activestink” – er... “ActiveSync” integration with Microsoft.

It’s a brand new service which is like ‘having Exchange for the rest of us’. Mobile Me gives us all push email, contacts and calendars ‘wherever you are’. It stores you information ‘up in the cloud’ – letting you access it via your Mac, your PC and your iPhone.

On your Mac it works with iCal, Mail and Address book, while PCs have it work with Outlook.

Push the information up and down to keep everything up to date – and it can get pushed to all your devices. All over the air. Very impressive!

Go to www.me.com – it gives you access to all your info over a web app, which Apple says feels like a desktop app. It’s a web 2.0 app which is cloud-based software as a service, outdoing Google and Microsoft by miles and “perfectly in sync wherever I need it to be”. Pretty amazing!

iDisk is online too – share files easily, and have everything in sync.

“An incredible new experience for information like Apple Exchange for the rest of us”.

It’s coming in July and will have a 60 day free trial, so it won’t be free and it “replaces .Mac” and upgrades all the .Mac stuff you have. $99 per year.

After this Steve Jobs went on stage to talk about the iPhone, which you’ve already read if you’ve come this far.

So, all up – a great slew of additions from Enterprise support to cool new apps and hundreds if not thousands and more to come, and great new iPhone 3G features and pricing – while leaving a number of features out that are surely being saved for the NEXT iPhone... sigh. Hahah :-)

iPhone. If it really is only US $199, and less than AUD $250, I’ll bet you’ll be getting one! I will... although my 2G iPhone will certainly rock with the upcoming iPhone 2.0 software, although whether it will let me plug in a Vodafone or Optus SIM is yet to be seen, and no doubt the hackers will be salivating at the prospect of getting their hands on an iPhone 3G from June 11 to hack away!
